PRIVACY & COOKIES

Your choices. Your perspective.

Last updated: 10 October 2026

Blindspot is an independently operated daily word game at blindspotwords.com. This page explains the game's browser storage, optional play statistics, feedback and advertising integration.

For privacy questions or requests, email blindspotwords@gmail.com. Operator details appear in the contact section below.

Your progress stays in your browser

Your answers, unfinished selections, recent scores, streak, sound preference and saved game state use local browser storage so you can resume playing. Your statistics choice is also saved locally. You do not need an account to play. This information remains on your device until cleared by you, your browser or a game update. Clearing this site's browser data removes locally saved progress and preferences.

Play statistics are optional

Optional statistics stay off until you select “Allow statistics”. A random browser identifier lets us measure visits, completed challenges, scores, shares and return visits. The server stores a hashed identifier, dates, game events, scores and a broad referral source. The application's statistics records do not contain your name, email address, IP address or precise location.

The operator can view these statistics to improve the game. The random identifier is pseudonymous; it does not make the records fully anonymous. Statistics are self-reported play data, not an assessment of intelligence. Events older than 90 days are removed when the service next processes requests. An identifier's record is removed after 90 days without activity, during that cleanup.

Choosing “No thanks” in Statistics settings withdraws permission and requests deletion of the statistics associated with this browser. This choice does not affect your ability to play.

Feedback and shared results

If you send a question report or archive-interest response, the server stores the information you choose to submit so the owner can review it. Reports can include the puzzle, your selected reason and your message. Please avoid sensitive or unnecessary personal details.

A temporary random identifier supports submission limits and duplicate prevention. Feedback records older than 90 days are removed during the service's next cleanup. Withdrawing statistics permission does not automatically delete separately submitted feedback; contact us about a particular report.

Result links contain a challenge date and, for friend challenges, the shared score. They do not contain the puzzle solutions. Sharing sends your result to the service or person you choose.

Google advertising and cookies

A Google AdSense banner is configured below the game. Whether an ad is served depends on Google's approval, your advertising choices and ad availability. Purchases are not available.

When advertising is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on earlier visits to this site or other websites. Google's advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to personalise ads using those visits.

Loading Google services can share the page address and your IP address with Google. Advertising may also involve browser identifiers and measurements for ad delivery, security and performance.

Advertising choices are separate from permission for the game's play statistics. Where Google's consent message is available, it provides advertising choices and a way to review those preferences. Providers and purposes can be reviewed in that message. Your choice about game statistics does not set your advertising preferences.

For visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, advertising storage and personalised advertising require consent where applicable. A consent-based choice can be withdrawn. Declining personalised advertising may still allow limited advertising under Google's settings and applicable requirements.

For eligible US visitors, Google's US state privacy message, when enabled, provides a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” option. Sharing data for targeted advertising may count as sale or sharing under some state laws even when no money changes hands. Where applicable, you can ask to opt out of that processing. State-specific rights depend on the law that applies to you and the service.

You can also manage Google's personalised advertising in Google Ad Settings. Read how Google uses information from partner sites and Google's Privacy Policy.

Hosting, email and service providers

The site is hosted through OpenAI Sites using Cloudflare infrastructure. These services process network requests, including IP addresses and browser information, to deliver and protect the site. Fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives the network request needed to provide them. The game's optional statistics choice does not control these provider requests.

If you email us, we receive your email address, any name you include and your message. Gmail processes that correspondence. We use it to answer your enquiry, handle privacy requests and keep an appropriate record of the response. Please send only information needed for your enquiry.

Game information is accessible to the operator and providers needed to run the service. It is disclosed to others only when necessary to fulfil your request, meet a legal obligation or protect the service and legal rights. Google and any enabled advertising partners also process advertising information as described above.

Read the OpenAI privacy information, Cloudflare Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy for those providers' practices. Their own processing and retention can differ from the game's 90-day records.

Why we use information

Under UK and EU data protection law, we rely on consent for optional game statistics and advertising activities that require consent. We rely on legitimate interests to deliver and secure the game, prevent misuse, review voluntary feedback and answer enquiries: these interests are operating a reliable game and responding to people who contact us. We use legal obligation where a law requires particular records or disclosures.

We do not use your game scores to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. Advertising providers may use information to select and measure advertisements, as described in their policies and advertising controls.

Retention and international processing

Local progress stays in your browser as explained above. Our game events and feedback follow the 90-day cleanup described in this notice. Enquiry correspondence is kept while needed to handle the matter and any relevant dispute or legal record; we review whether it remains necessary rather than retaining it for an unrelated purpose.

Our providers operate internationally, so information may be processed outside the UK or EEA, including in the United States. Locations and transfer arrangements depend on the provider and applicable service terms. Google describes its adequacy frameworks and standard contractual clauses in its data transfer information. The hosting providers' linked privacy information describes their international processing. Contact us for information about the arrangements relevant to a particular request.

Your privacy rights

Depending on the applicable law and circumstances, you can request access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing and a portable copy. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Where US state law applies, rights may also include opting out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising and appealing a refused request.

You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Email the contact address below to exercise your rights. You will not be treated unfairly for making a privacy request. We may need enough information to locate the relevant record and verify a request, but please do not send identity documents unless we explain why they are necessary.

We respond within the time required by the applicable law, normally within one month for UK/EU requests. Some rights have exceptions. We may be unable to identify records from your email alone because the game uses random browser identifiers.

You can complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office, or an appropriate local data protection authority. EU visitors can contact the authority where they live or work.

Managing your choices

Use Statistics settings in the game to change optional measurement permissions or request deletion of this browser's statistics. Use your browser's site-data controls to clear locally saved progress. Where shown on the game, Google's separate advertising privacy controls let you review your advertising choices or use the US opt-out option.

If the relevant controls do not appear or a deletion request fails, email us so we can help. Turning off optional statistics does not prevent you from playing.
